For its quality.

UK education enjoys a reputation for unsurpassed quality throughout the world.

This means you can look forward to better career prospects and higher potential earnings once you have completed your studies.

For its choice.

There are literally thousands of courses for you to choose from and hundreds of schools, colleges and universities in which to study:

  • · over 180 institutions offering degrees;
  • · over 500 colleges of further education;
  • · 600 plus boarding schools.

A tradition of being the best.

The fact that a British education is second to none should come as no surprise.

With a history dating back almost 800 years, the British way of learning has inspired education systems the world over and is still among the most valued and successful.

Teaching how to think, not what to think.

Quality assurance.

The UK operates a unique quality assurance system that ensures accountability in all areas.

From student support services to the quality of the teaching staff, every school, further education and higher education establishment is subject to rigorous scrutiny by the government.

Thus giving you the peace of mind that comes from knowing the education you receive will live up to your expectations… in every way.

«In a world of life-long learning, British education is… a first-class ticket for life».

The Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Tony Blair.

This means you can look forward to better career prospects and higher potential earnings once your studies are complete.

Quite simply, there is no better environment in which to take hold of your future… and be the best you can be.

In June 1999 the Prime Minister, Tony Blair launched an initiative to attract more overseas students to Britain.

As part of our contribution to this we have initiated a more regular dialogue with bodies, such as the Council for International Education and the Association of Recognised English Language Services, which represent UK educational establishments, over the framework within which Entry Clearance Officers operate.

New arrangements are also now in place at a number of Posts in key locations that attract high volumes of students, such as Moscow and Peking.

At these places the British Council help students to find appropriate courses and assist in the preparation of the supporting documentation needed for entry clearances.

Other initiatives include the acceptance of visa applications based on conditional letters of acceptance so that, if the student can meet the other requirements of the Immigration Rules, a visa can be issued within 24 hours of the unconditional offer being made, or the student achieving the required grades.
